6 extremely dangerous mistakes that can cause the refrigerator to explode like a bomb – almost every household makes them
1. Placing the refrigerator too close to appliances that generate heat
One of the main reasons for refrigerator explosions is that they are placed too close to appliances such as microwave ovens, gas stoves, ovens and others. If the temperature around the refrigerator is too high or if these appliances cause a short circuit, this can lead to the refrigerator exploding. In addition, if the refrigerator’s electrical cables are placed near blankets, curtains or mattresses, the risk increases. In the event of a short circuit, the cables can easily cause a fire and ignite the refrigerator.
2. Using an old refrigerator without regular maintenance
Old refrigerators that have been repeatedly repaired, welded or filled with gas often have problems such as clogged capillary tubes between the condenser and evaporator. This leads to high pressure and reduced cooling capacity. Signs that your refrigerator is old and at risk of exploding:
Compressor runs continuously without stopping.
Loud noise during operation.
Accumulation of a lot of ice and snow in the compartments.
Poor cooling.
It is best to call a technician regularly for inspection and maintenance or consider purchasing a new refrigerator if necessary.
3. Putting carbonated drinks or alcohol in the freezer
Putting soda in the freezer is a common mistake that can lead to an explosion. According to experts, soda cans are extremely sensitive to temperature – both too high and too low. This can turn them into “bombs” and cause a loud explosion. Similarly, beer or alcohol in the freezer can change the pressure and easily lead to an explosion. You should also not put glass bottles of water in the freezer – when the temperature drops, the water expands and the glass contracts, which can easily lead to breakage or explosion.
