Drill holes in old metal colanders and stack them with 2 other kitchen items and neighbors can’t stop asking about the result!

Place the blue tarp over your workspace to catch any metal shavings.
Take the first metal colander and, using the electric drill, create several drainage holes at the bottom. Repeat for the remaining two colanders.
Insert a wooden dowel or metal rod into the ground where you want to place your planter, ensuring it is stable.
Stack the first colander onto the dowel, pushing it down to the desired height.
Add a layer of potting soil into the first colander and plant your choice of herbs or flowers.
Stack the second colander on top of the first, securing it by sliding it down the dowel. Ensure it is stable.
Repeat the soil and planting process for the second colander.
Place the third colander on top, following the same method to fill with soil and plants.
Ensure each colander is evenly spaced and securely positioned on the dowel.

Variations & Tips
To adapt this project for different climates, consider using different materials for the dowels, such as bamboo for a more tropical look. In wetter climates, ensure the metal is rust-resistant or apply a protective coating. For plant variations, choose succulents for a low-water option or annuals for seasonal color. If you want a more modern aesthetic, paint the colanders in bold colors before assembling. Alternatively, use the structure to grow trailing plants like ivy or nasturtiums for a lush, overflowing effect.
